Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Cuena team (“we”) handles data when you use Cuena. Our guiding principle is local-first: your captured content stays on your device unless you choose to use a hosted feature.

Local mode

When you use Cuena with your own AI provider keys, screen captures, audio, transcripts, and notes are stored locally on your device and sent only to the AI provider you configured. We do not receive or store that content.

Hosted & managed mode

When you sign in and use hosted credits, the minimum content needed to fulfil a request (for example, a screenshot plus your question, or audio for transcription) is transmitted to our service and the relevant AI provider to generate a response. We do not use your content to train models.

Account & billing data

When you create an account we receive basic profile information from your sign-in provider (Google or GitHub), typically your name and email. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Creem; we do not store full card details. We keep records of your plan, credit balance, and transactions to operate the Service.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your personal data.
  • We don’t train AI models on your content.
  • We don’t access your local captures in local mode.

Data retention & your rights

You can export or delete your account data from within the app (Settings → Account) or by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your hosted account data, subject to records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.

Third-party processors

We rely on service providers to operate Cuena, including AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Deepgram) for hosted requests, Creem for payments, and infrastructure/database hosting. Each processes data only as needed to provide their part of the Service.
